Britney Spears strutted her way back to center stage with a short, sexy set at the House of Blues believed to be her first public concert appearance in nearly three years.

The erstwhile pop star, more recently derided as a pop tart for her highly public forays into midnight carousing, appeared to be back in top form.

The 25-year-old mother of two went onstage late Tuesday wearing nothing more than knee-high go-go boots with a short white skirt and a sparkly pink bra top that showed off her belly button ring - and no evidence of the weight gain that landed her on celebrity tabloid covers last year. A long brown wig completed the outfit, covering the head she shaved in February.

She launched a short set with her classic “Baby One More Time,” using a cafe chair as a burlesque prop while she pranced around the small club stage backed up by four dancers.

“She’s so good!” yelled San Diego hairstylist Ally Murray, 29, as Spears showed off her aerobic choreography.

Spears sped through the songs - all standards from her earlier albums - wrapping up after less than 15 minutes. She gave a shy goodbye before an old Madonna song came on over the sound system. “Thanks everyone for coming,” she told the packed club.

The comeback didn’t hit a high note for everyone, some of whom paid upward of $125 a ticket.

“It looked like she lip-synced her way through the whole thing,” said a disappointed Morgan Segall, 20, who flew in from San Francisco for the night.

The performance, under heavy club security, was shrouded in mystery. The club marquee advertised a show by “The M&Ms,” and it wasn’t until an hour after the doors opened that a disc jockey mentioned Spears’ name, prompting shrieks from girls jammed in front of the stage.

Rumors of a Spears show had spread on the Internet and via local radio stations late last week, prompting a run on tickets by die-hard fans.

Spears’ last concert tour ended in summer 2004. Earlier this year, she told fans she hoped for career comeback.

“I look forward to coming back this year bigger and better than ever,” Spears wrote on her Web site in January, also noting she’d “been far from perfect.”

“Whatever, we love her,” said Raul Flores, 22, who waved a foam placard of his favorite pop star at the club exit. “She’s amazing.”

In March, Spears completed a stint at a luxury Malibu rehabilitation treatment facility after a series of run-ins with the paparazzi that included a stop at a San Fernando Valley hair salon, where she was caught on video shearing her own locks. Other photographs splashed across the Internet appeared to reveal Spears went out partying wearing nothing underneath her short skirts.

She was seen going out with Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan after filing for divorce from aspiring rapper Kevin Federline last November, just two months after giving birth to their second child, Jayden James. The pair also have an older son, Sean Preston, now 20 months.

The two reached a divorce settlement in March.

At one point in the show, Spears and her posse played at taunting a male dancer who, dressed in a natty gray suit, looked vaguely like Federline.

“The M&Ms” had two other concerts scheduled at House of Blues venues in Southern California - one in Anaheim on Wednesday and the other Thursday in West Hollywood - according to the club’s Web site.

Britney spent her first post divorce weekend in Las Vegas with close friends. Britney and her running crew took off for Vegas immediately after Brit finalized her divorce last week. Britney and co. had a low key dinner at Tao Asian Bistro last Saturday with absolutely no signs of party girl behavior showing up.

Other diners in the restaurant report that Britney was dressed casual, wearing a light coat, and her new trademark hat and wig. Her table ordered veggie dumplings, hot edamame and a California roll. Britney sipped Pepsi and the girls were in and out in about an hour.

Britney spent the rest of the weekend shopping with her gal pals at the Forum while crowds of fans followed. For some reason there were no photographers around. Post-rehab Britney is sort of boring, huh?

Most of us don’t believe for one minute that Britney Spear’s stay at Promises was really long enough to have fixed everything that was wrong in her life. But she did come out looking much better. I had forgotten how bad she looked before the bald breakdown. US Weekly reports that Britney has traded rum and coke for unsweet tea and cheetos for sushi. She is working on her skin for the first time in ages and she is actually getting some real exercise in dance class.

She made the demonic cry after scrawling the devil’s number “666″ across her head.

Spears’ manic behaviour has concerned relatives who once again fear for her safety, and has staff at the Promises Clinic in Malibu, California struggling to cope.

The former chart-topper’s troubles have been revealed in Britain’s News Of the World, which broke the exclusive story.

Within days of her suicidal behaviour, Spears - who was in and out of rehab before shaving her own head and later attacking a photographer’s car with an umbrella - was begging estranged husband Kevin Federline not only for a reconciliation, but demanding she wanted to soon have another baby.

The ordeal began when she terrified staff by writing the number of the beast on her head and running around the clinic screaming, “I am the antichrist!”

“The clinic people just didn’t know what to do,” a friend claimed.

The pop star then tried to hang herself with a bedsheet was but was found before she could hurt herself.

Well, Britney Spears has hit rock bottom. In front of the entire world. Sucks to be her. She left rehab again, went to get another tattoo, then went to K-Fed’s house to see her kids and was denied access to them. Things went downhill from there. She violently attacked paparazzi going to far as to give one of them a welt on the back with the same umbrella that she attempts to knock out his car window with. What a mess. She caused physical damage to property as well as causing bodily harm to another human. She has virtually no shot in hell of getting custody of her kids now. Someone needs to slap this girl as hard as they can in the face in order to knock some sense into her. Things have gone way to far. She isn’t far from being committed. To Be Continued…

Now that she has shaved her head, Britney decided to find the lamest wig she could find to go partying in. What was the point of shaving her head if she’s gonna wear a wig? When is the last time she saw her kids? WTF is wrong with this girl? Things just keep getting weirdo. Britney Spears is cementing her place in history as the female version of Michael Jackson.

The crazy bitch has really done it this time. Britney Spears shaved her head bald in front of the X17online crew yesterday. Onlookers say she cried in her car for 15 minutes before entering the salon where the hairdresser flat out refused to shave Britney’s head. So she shaved it herself. Spears was reportedly dazed and seemed out of it the whole time. Next, she walked to a tattoo parlor and got some ink on her forearm. Who knows what this girl is on. She has lost her damn mind. In front of the entire world nonetheless. Hello rehab. Her is a pic for your amusement.

Britney Spears went back home to Kentwood, LA to attend her dead aunts funeral this week. It is not confirmed but I’m pretty sure the aunt keeled over after viewing this site and realizing that her niece has become white trash. And fat. And slutty.

In related news, Britney plans to attend the funeral of her faltering career sometime next month.

Despite Britney Spears telling paparazzi on Thursday, January 18th, that she and model Isaac Cohen are “not together, by the way,” Isaac insisted to Star that they’re still on!

Wearing a purple Christian Audigier designed Ed Hardy tee-shirt over a long sleeved thermal shirt (”I love his clothes!”), Isaac talked with Star exclusively on Friday, January 19th at his beige carpeted apartment in Encino, CA where he was listening to music playing softly. Isaac explained to Star that “everything is fine” between him and Brit.

“I talked with her earlier today.” Tall, handsome and exceedingly polite (Isaac offered to shake a reporter’s hand not once, but twice!), Isaac seemed a bit overwhelmed by all of the recent media attention, but was taking it in stride. “I can handle anything that’s thrown at me, but I would appreciate if you didn’t bother my friends and family. I’m having a relationship with (Britney), not (the media).”

Britney Spears and Paris Hilton’s friendship is definitely on hiatus according to the singer’s representative.

The pair’s recent partying exploits turned many fans off of Britney and now she apparently wants to get away from all that.

Her spokesperson explained: “Britney had fun with Paris. But she wants to focus on her family and career now.”

I’m sure they’ll hook up again in the future though!
